The Archibald Senior Center
Welcome to MACOA's Newly Refurbished Archibald Senior Center! The Archibald Center provides a focal point in downtown Montgomery for active senior citizens to meet, socialize, relax and have fun in a beautiful, newly renovated building.
Activities include arts and crafts classes, educational programs, theme luncheons, and recreational activities.
Archibald membership is available and we welcome the young at heart over the age of 55. Membership fees are $36 per person per calendar year and $54 per couple payable in January. Membership fees are prorated for new members if joining during the middle of the year. Members enjoy the companionship of friend, and learn more about their world and community. A computer center offers a variety of software classes and Internet use.
****Beginning in 2017, Archibald Members will receive a Membership Card that will offer various benefits throughout the year at local businesses. Be sure to check your monthly newsletter for more information.****

ACTIVITIES AT THE ARCHIBALD CENTER AND MACOA EAST:
Computer classes are taught by Ann Hill in the computer room of the Archibald Center. Various four week sessions are available in Windows 10, Excel, etc. Members $55/Non-Members $65. Check monthly newsletter for dates and times.
Individual members who have enrolled in a previous computer class meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 1:00 to share ideas, findings, and discuss questions. There is no charge for this class
CRAFTY HANDS CLUB
Many seniors find that making crafts can be an enjoyable way to pass the time. Crafting helps to keep the mind sharp and stimulated. Arts, crafts, painting, knitting, and coloring for adults are some of the activities just to name a few. Bring your ideas and share with the group. Meets 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at 10:30. No charge.
Game Day is a fun-filled time as we gather together to play BINGO, cards, checkers, dominoes and much more! BINGO winners receive prizes!! Lunch is usually catered and at no charge. Join us the 4th Tuesday of each month at 10:30.
Looking for a quiet place to read your favorite book? Stop by the Archibald Center Library to check out books to take home or stay for a while and relax in the cozy sofa or chair.
This is a great way to have fun and get some exercise in! Line dancing will keep you moving to a variety of music as the instructor leads the way. Line dancing is not just for those with dance experience but for beginners too! Classes are held every Thursday at 2:30 for beginners and on Monday’s at 1:30 for those with more experience. No charge for members.
Prepare to fight off the coldness of winter as you learn how to make beautiful hats using a round knitting loom kit. It’s easy and enjoyable! See newsletter for scheduled meeting times or bring your loom kit and yarn with you to Crafty Hands Club!
Every 3rd Tuesday, the Archibald Center hosts a monthly senior luncheon for members and guests of the Archibald Center. This delicious catered luncheon from King’s Table Catering is only $7.00 for members and $9.00 for non-members. If it’s your birthday month, then as a member, you eat free! There will be a guest speaker each month and door prize drawings to be given away.
Bring out the popcorn and coke as we watch some of the great films of the past and present! Check the newsletter for upcoming dates.
STRETCH AND FLEX
Need to get some exercise in your schedule? Have fun while working out in a group environment. Using a chair, this program includes stretching using a rubber band and weightlifting with weights 1-3 pounds each. These exercises help keep your joints flexible, prevent stiffness, and may help reduce your chance of injury during other activities. Tennis shoes/sneakers are required during class. No charge for members. Rubber band and weights not provided by center. Meets Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at 9:45am.
Join the Archibald Seniors as they travel locally on day trips and extended trips to various parts of the world! Check the calendar for a list of trips and dates.
Quilting is a craft that can be learned and treasured! Join a wonderful group of ladies each 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 9:00am to learn the basics of quilting.
MACOA EAST LOCATION ACTIVITIES
Each Tuesday and Thursday at the Grace at Bell Road Church at the corner of Bell Road and Atlanta Highway, we offer another location for our seniors to meet. From 9am-3pm, join this group to play dominoes, bridge, or pennies and to exercise. Lunch is also served from 11:30-12:30 for $6.00.
