Alabama Senior Medicare Patrol empowering seniors to prevent Healthcare Fraud is seeking volunteers for public speaking engagements, for booking engagements and for assisting Medicare Recipients to read and understand Medicare Explanation of Benefits statements. This project is sponsored by East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission.

Adelia Russell Library – Volunteers can work as book menders and checking the shelves for misplaced books, label and sort books and assist with special projects.

Alexander City Chamber of Commerce has volunteer opportunities for front desk greeters and various other tasks.

Alexander City Parks & Recreation - Volunteers plan activities of daily routines and major events sponsored by the park.

American Red Cross – Volunteer opportunities consist of training to operate a shelters in event of disaster. Volunteers interview clients determining eligibility for Project Share and other social services provided by the Red Cross. Volunteers assist when there is local disaster. Families who lose their homes in fires are assisted by the Red Cross and their volunteers.

Bill Nichols Veterans Home – Volunteers Assist residents playing Bingo, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and make friendly visits, and assist with crafts including painting.

Boys and Girls Clubs of the Lake Martin Area – Volunteers interact with children as afternoon tutors helping with homework assignments, watch groups of children during outdoor play. Volunteers teach choir and carry the children to out of town performances.

Children's Harbor Thrift Store volunteers sort and organize donations for sale. Some operate and perform duties required to run a store.

Community Action Head Start – Assisting the teachers serving meals and snacks. Read stories to the students. Help with art projects.

Dadeville Public Library – a volunteer to coordinate, organize, and supervise a weekly story time.

Horizons Unlimited Program - a program to provide combined learning and fellowship for mature learners. All classes meet at 1:30 in the boardroom at the Alexander City Board of Education. Volunteers could set up for the meeting and make certain the refreshments are prepared.

Horseshoe Bend Regional Library needs volunteers to deliver books to homebound Daycare Centers and to Assisted Living and nursing Home Residents.

Hospice Advantage is opening a new office and needs volunteers to serve in clerical areas. Also, they will train volunteers to make patient visits.

Lake Martin Community Hospital Auxiliary volunteers greet visitors and provide assistance with directions. Volunteers host the surgery waiting room.

Lake Martin Friends of Hospice, Dadeville - volunteers visit patients. Run errands for the patient or their family. Volunteers provide support my mailing cards and keeping in touch with families. Some help with fundraising in order to purchase needed items.

Meals on Wheels - Volunteers are needed to deliver meals to the sick and shut in.

Middle Tallapoosa River Basin needs volunteers to help with the First Water Festival in Tallapoosa County for all fourth graders. The event will be April 23rd and 24th at Wind Creek State Park. March 15, 2013 the group will have a drive through Electronics Recycle Event. Volunteers are need to unload vehicles.

Russell Medical Center- Volunteers perform front desk duties. They direct visitors and patients to proper places. They provide wheelchair transports, deliver mail and flowers. They work in waiting rooms and staff the sign in desk at the outpatient area.

RSVP Serving Tallapoosa County – Answering telephones and greeting visitors to the RSVP Office.

Salvation Army – Various assignments available, including working in the clothes closet and ringing the bell during the holiday season.

Sav a Life – Volunteers can assist folding clothes and preparing packets for young families. Volunteers could train to teach classes in schools.

Tallapoosa County Schools – interested in volunteers who will tutor children in reading.

Some opportunity to assist teachers with special needs children. There are also opportunities to assist teachers.

Tri-County Children's Advocacy Center needs volunteers to help with fund raising projects.
